Spiders are a pretty big deal at our house-Halloween or not and this activity is such a fun, hands on way for your kiddos to practice their uppercase and lowercase letter recognition. This activity will have your preschool kiddo giggling non-stop as they stick and unstick the small spiders on each of the lowercase or uppercase letters.

Stringing Everything Together for This Sticky Wall Alpha-Web
You only need a few materials, all can be found at the dollar store!
Materials:
● contact paper
● sharpie
● mini spiders (or any small figures with a flat bottom)
● optional, foam bath letters or magnet letters
Instructions:
Step 1 Pick 4 letters you want to have your child focus on identifying upper and lower case versions.
Step 2 On the sticky side of the contact paper, draw 4 spider webs, labeling in between with various lower case letters. Make sure at least 4-5 are the letter for that web.
Step 3 Grab a foam upper case letter or just write what the upper case version of the designated letter and place it in a corner close to the web.
Step 4 Let your kiddo go at it! He/she will put a spider on each of the lower case letters that matches the upper case letter! They will have so much fun replacing the spiders over and over again, reinforcing the upper and lower case recognition.
With this activity, you could easily have a few different sets of letters in each spider web. This way, you can switch out the upper case letter they're looking for the lower case matches.
Take this Halloween activity to the next level!
There are so many great ways you could extend this activity and make it more challenging as your child continues to grow. This would make for a great math activity with number recognition and finding different ways to make a given number. You could use it to work on beginning sounds with pictures or short words, once your child is reading. This is also an activity that could easily be used any time of the year! The spider web could be turned into a square with lines through it or you could pick a different holiday shape to use.
